Productivity

Labor hours per unit of work. The single most important number in any concrete or earthwork bid.

Productivity is the rate at which a crew can produce a unit of work, expressed in labor hours per unit.

0.05 manhours per SF of slab on grade 1.2 manhours per LF of stem wall 8.0 manhours per pier (drilled, 24" Ø, 18' deep)

Multiply your takeoff quantity by the productivity to get total labor hours. Multiply labor hours by your blended labor rate to get labor cost.

Productivity is the variable that separates estimators who know their crew from those who don't. Industry tables (RSMeans, Walker's) give you a defensible starting point. Your crew's actual numbers are what should drive the bid.
