Real-time collaboration for estimating teams: how it changes bid day

Two estimators, one bid, one set of plans. Google-docs-style presence and live measurement sync isn't a novelty — it's the difference between finishing at 5pm and finishing at midnight.

Two estimators split a bid. One takes the site work, one takes the structural. They work in parallel — sort of. Every hour they stop, one exports a takeoff, the other imports it, they reconcile the differences, and they get back to work. The reconcile pass takes twenty minutes each time. On a busy bid day, that's two hours of overhead.

Then there's the phone call: "Wait, are you on the current addendum? Are you on the revised civil sheets? Which set of piers are you counting?"

Both estimators open the same project. They see each other's cursors. When one drops a scale on a sheet, the other's copy updates instantly. When one measures a footing, the other sees it appear in the sidebar with a colored dot marking who drew it.

No exports, no imports, no reconcile pass. When the clock hits 4:30pm and the GC changes the alternate scope, one estimator handles the change while the other keeps refining production rates. Both see the results in the summary line at the top of the screen.
