Bedrock vs AGTEK: earthwork takeoff inside your estimate, or a dedicated modeling tool?

AGTEK is a long-established earthwork takeoff and 3D modeling program used by grading and excavation contractors, with tools that reach into machine control and the field. Bedrock's Earthwork Pro is newer and narrower: it reads contours, elevation labels and spot grades off civil PDFs, builds existing and proposed surfaces, and sends cut and fill straight to the job's estimate, proposal and budget. If earthwork modeling is your whole job, AGTEK is the deeper tool. If you bid the earthwork alongside concrete, paving or utilities and want one estimate, look at Bedrock.

AGTEK has been a name in earthwork takeoff for a long time. Bedrock's Earthwork Pro is part of a full estimating app: the same job, plan set and login as your other takeoff, with the yards landing on the estimate as line items.

AGTEK is a specialist earthwork modeling program. Bedrock is a takeoff, estimating and proposal platform with earthwork built in, for contractors who price the dirt together with the rest of the scope.

Questions

Is Bedrock an AGTEK alternative?

For bid-stage earthwork takeoff, yes: Earthwork Pro reads contours and spot grades from civil PDFs, builds existing and proposed surfaces and works out bank cut, fill and net import or export. For heavy 3D modeling and machine-control work, AGTEK goes further.

Can Bedrock open DWG or LandXML files?

Not yet. Earthwork Pro imports DXF, MicroStation V7 DGN and survey point files today. Save a DWG as DXF to bring it in.

Does Bedrock make machine-control models?

Bedrock downloads the built surfaces as LandXML or a DXF of 3D faces, in plan coordinates, for your surveyor to put on site control. It doesn't localize them or build the machine model for you.

Who can use Earthwork Pro?

Premier and trial companies whose trades include earthwork, concrete & earthwork, or paving & sitework.
